The College of Applied Science and Technology provides a $1,000 four-year renewable scholarship for an outstanding new freshman. The Dean's Scholarship Award winner is chosen from the Presidential Scholarship pool.
Larry R. Miller served with distinction at Illinois State University from 1971 until his death in January, 1993. This scholarship has been established by Larry's family and friends to perpetuate the pursuit of quality that motivated him. The scholarship is for an undergraduate student enrolled as a major in a program in the College who has completed 60 hours of credit course work, 30 of which should have been completed at Illinois State University.
The College of Applied Science and Technology is continuing the scholarship program to encourage professional practice opportunities for high achieving students who wish to complete their internship with an executive, legislative, or judicial agency/organization in Washington, D.C.
The SoLA Scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $500 to a student in the College of Applied Science and Technology that is completing an internship at Miller Park Zoo. The $500 amount will apply toward college expenses. The scholarship is open to junior and senior students with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Special consideration will be given to applicants who are intent on pursuing a career with animals and/or wildlife; applicants will be required to submit a cover letter detailing their career goals.
