The CAST Mentoring Program provides a formalized and structured program to assist development as a scholar during a faculty member's first three years at ISU. The CAST Research Office is committed to the development of a focused line of scholarship by probationary tenure-track faculty. Under the ASPT system, tenure-track faculty are evaluated annually in the area of scholarship for merit promotion, and tenure decisions.
This program should not be considered the only mechanism for support. It should complement efforts within an academic unit to facilitate development of a productive research agenda.
The CAST Mentoring Program is a voluntary one for both mentees and mentors. An orientation for new faculty members sponsored by the CAST Dean's Office is conducted in August. The Mentoring Program Overview (pdf) provides information on the program's activities, expectations, and procedures.
