CAST Mentoring Program

There's a lot to learn your first few years as a faculty member. Our mentor program can make things a little easier.

As a new faculty member in CAST, we'll match you with someone who can help you reach your professional goals.

What to Expect

  • A mentor to guide you along the way.

We'll pair you with an experienced faculty member in the College who will help you clarify your goals and objectives.

  • A research plan to help you contribute to your field.

You and your mentor will develop an outline to develop your research focus.

  • Journal article submissions to highlight your important work.

You'll aim to submit one to two manuscripts to a refereed journal during your first year of employment.

  • Opportunities for funding to support your research.

Your mentor will help you submit proposals for internal and external research grants. You'll also have access to grant writing workshops to help your proposal stand out from the rest.

  • Personalized discussions about your advancement.

You'll discuss the scholarship aspect of ASPT (appointment, salary, promotion, and tenure) one-on-one with your mentor and the dean's office.

Due Dates for 2023-2024

  • Mentor Selected: Last Tuesday of September
  • URG Submission (optional): First Tuesday of February
  • Research Plan Submission: Third Tuesday of March
