The CAST Outstanding Researcher Award recognizes individuals who have conducted research at an outstanding level among peers in the College.

Eligibility
- Applicant must be a tenured faculty members currently engaged in an active research agenda.
- The applicant must have been at Illinois State for a minimum of three academic years prior to nomination.
- Previous award winners are eligible for nomination five years after their last award.

Include the following materials in pdf format.

Description of research
The statement should be one to two pages, single spaced, and written at a level appropriate for faculty reviewers outside the discipline. Address the significance of the nominee's total body of research to the field of study. (1 to 2 pages, single spaced)

Endorsement
The application needs to be endorsed by the nominee's School Director, Department Chairperson, or a colleague in the department.

Vita
Submit a full career vita. Complete citations must be given for all published works.
Application Process
Eligible faculty members may be nominated by any faculty member, School Director, or Department Chair in the College.
The nominee must seek written endorsement of their application from their School Director or Department Chairperson or a colleague in the school/department. The endorsement should address the contribution of the nominee's research to his/her field of study, including the extent to which the nominee is recognized nationally or internationally for research.
More than one faculty member may be nominated by a given School or Department.
Entries will be reviewed by the CAST Research Council (CRC). The CRC will rank all entries and submit the final rank order and a recommendation for award to the CAST Dean.

Additional Award Information
An award of $500 for research costs is provided to each College to recognize outstanding researchers. The number of recipients, the selection process, and the criteria for these awards are at the discretion of the College. However, the criteria should parallel those of the Outstanding University Researcher Award program for College recipients to be competitive at the University level.
Colleges should send the names of award recipients to the Associate Vice President for Research before the deadline for Outstanding University Researcher applications; otherwise, College recipients will be ineligible for Outstanding University Researcher awards that year.
